ABOUT THE COLORADO STATE FLAG

The Colorado State Flag was designed by Andrew Carlisle Johnson and adopted by the Colorado General Assembly on June 5, 1911. The colors used in the Colorado State Flag represent the environmental features of the state; the gold symbolizes Colorado’s abundant sunshine, the blue represents Colorado’s clear and seemingly always azure skies, the white symbolizes Colorado’s snow-capped Rocky Mountains and the red represents the color of much of Colorado’s soil.
